FAQ

Can the T1 work if there is a lip on the entrance into the hangar?

The T1 should be able to get over a ½ – 1” concrete lip into the hangar. You could add small metal plates, like this person did, to help smooth it out a bit. You can see it in this section of the video: https://youtu.be/wqvq6fggQqQ?t=39

Does a T1 work with wheel fairings?

Yes, the T1 works with wheel fairings. Please be sure the attachment isn’t too tight or too loose, as that will help protect it from sliding off and damaging the fairings.

How do I make a turn while the T1 is attached to a plane?

To make a gradual turn, tilt the T1 so one tire is slightly off the ground. For sharper turns, lift the T1 by the handle so the wheels are off the ground and place down it in the direction you wish to go.

How long will a battery last after being unplugged?

It depends on the climate, but a fully charged battery should last a few weeks without being charged. You can’t overcharge our batteries, so if you leave the T1 plugged in for several weeks at a time, that will not harm the battery. We recommend keeping the T1 plugged in whenever it’s not in use.

What is the life expectancy of the batteries in years?

Approximately 5 years if the charger is used properly to maintain the batteries.

It mentions extreme cold has negative impact on batteries, how cold is extreme?

Never store batteries under 30˚F for long periods of time. The minimum/maximum temperature range for a battery is 0˚C (32˚F) to 40˚C (104˚F). Never try to charge a frozen battery.

What type of tires are on the T1?

Pneumatic air-filled tires are used for a better grip.

Will the T1 work on snowy/wet surfaces?

Our AeroTow T1 works best on dry, flat surfaces, but we have had customers use it in snowy conditions. The founder of AeroTow was a pilot in Wisconsin and used his tugs often in snow. He found that snow chains on tires could damage the flooring in a hangar, so he recommends sprinkling kitty litter or sand down to provide more traction in the snow/wet weather.

Do you offer snow tires?

Not at this time.
